FAQ

BLUNORI BRAND
What does BluNori mean?
Nori means seaweed in Japanese. BluNori is inspired by Chondrus Crispus, also known as Irish moss, which in bright sunlight displays a shifting bluish color much like that seen on oil slicks or soap bubbles. The seaweed tips bend sunlight to reflect blue and ultraviolet light, and create an iridescent effect.
What is BluNori founding story?
BluNori is created to address the gap in attractive swimwear varieties that are suitable for performance swimming. Our design team comes from luxury fashion background and are committed to flex their skills to bring you the most unusual and visually mind-bending swimsuits and other aquatic lifestyle products. The BluNori team are all swim enthusiasts, some have been competitive swimmers, rowers and other aquatic sports. We truly embody our mission through and through.
What is BluNori mission?
At BluNori, we believe in the power of fun, dare to be different, and thoughtfulness to bring an active aquatic lifestyle to people. Our mission is to create products and experiences that celebrate the inner child in us, embrace the magic of water, and encourage our fantasy to blossom.

Every building block of our business is geared towards a more connected sustainable world:
>>  We invest in sustainable practice, from on-demand manufacturing to eliminate product waste, to sustainable packaging.
>>  We invest in factories with safe and ethical working conditions that pay above a living wage so that the people who make our products have time, energy, and resources to connect with the people they love.
>>  We invest in products made from thoughtful and responsible materials, because what we make is connected to the wealth of the earth we share and the health of people in it.
>>  We invest in telling stories about real people and the vast cornucopia of communities that make up the world.
What is BluNori design philosophy?
BluNori design is largely influenced by Japanese arts, culture, and lifestyle. We have several permanent Japanese-inspired collections: Nippon, Anime Utopia, Mochi, and Naruto.

We also take inspirations from many other things: visually striking pop-arts, geometric beings, random animated objects, and quirky things that bring smile to our faces.

PRODUCTS
Who develop the products?
BluNori product developers and designers are based in the US, Japan, and Switzerland. They come from luxury fashion background as well as deep-rooted in the swimming world and other aquatic sports like rowing, sailing, diving, kayaking, and surfing.
Where do BluNori products come from?
BluNori product components and raw materials are sourced from Spain, Germany, Lithuania, Colombia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia, and China. They. are then manufactured (including dying and printing) in the US and Mexico.
What is your manufacturing and supply chain philosophy?
BluNori brand embraces the slow fashion movement by implementing responsible and sustainable operations and productions. The following are our core principles:
>>  Circularity & Sustainable Luxury: BluNori on-demand manufacturing and fulfillment allow us to be zero waste and energy efficient with Fair-Trade Standards.
>>  Responsible Fabric Choices: Each design is created with responsible fabric choices and everything is chosen with much love and care for the environment. Natural and recycled fabrics are prioritized.
>>  Ethical Workforce: We are committed to empowering and uplifting the communities of people throughout our supply chain lifecycle.
>>  Giving Back: BluNori is committed to giving back to the community through donating both physical products and a portion of our revenue.
How do I care for BluNori swimsuits?
BluNori swimsuits, bikinis, and rash guards are made with similar fabric composition and they go through the same dying and printing process. We recommend to hand wash and rinse them with cold water and lay them flat in shade to dry as it helps keep the fabric, the colors, and the shape of the items looking newer, longer. Not to mention the environmental benefits for using this care method.
Could you tell me more about recycled polyster?
Recycled polyester (rPET for short) is a fabric that’s produced from synthetic fibers. Recycled polyester is produced by recycling existing materials (like plastic bottles and packaging) but still has all the characteristics and performance as a regular polyester, making it a more sustainable fabric alternative. Recycled polyester is made by crushing plastic products into small pieces. These small pieces are then processed into yarn, transformed into a fiber, and in the end—made into a fabric.

Producing rPet takes 33% to 53% less energy than creating polyester from scratch. Also, rPet produces approximately 54.6% fewer CO2 emissions to the air than virgin polyester. By using recycled materials to make BluNori bikinis, at least some of the plastic waste produced doesn’t end up in landfills.
Are your packaging materials sustainable?
BluNori packaging materials are 100% recyclable, from mailers and krafts to cardboard boxes. Apparel products are packaged in eco-friendly Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) plastic bags, made from items that people use and recycle every day: plastic bottles, food containers, etc. PCR packaging protects the products just as well as the virgin plastic bags, while looking almost the same.

Our PCR plastic mailers are made from low-density polyethylene (LDPE), categorized as number 4-coded plastic. This material is recyclable, but number 4 coded plastic doesn't usually belong in an everyday recycling bin. Typically, it has to be recycled at designated drop-off points. The kraft mailers and cardboard boxes are also recyclable and can be sorted in the paper recycling bins.
