Our design team, with their roots in luxury fashion, thrives on creating the unexpected: unique, visually mind-bending swimsuits and aquatic essentials that turn heads in and out of the water. Everyone on the BluNori team lives and breathes water—former competitive swimmers, rowers, and watersport fanatics. This isn’t just a job; it’s a way of life.

“Nori” means seaweed in Japanese, and that’s where our story flows from. BluNori is inspired by Chondrus Crispus, also called Irish moss. Under bright sunlight, it transforms into a kaleidoscope of blues, shimmering like soap bubbles or an oil slick on a sunny day. The seaweed’s tips bend light, reflecting ultraviolet and blue hues to create an iridescence that’s pure magic. That same spirit of transformation and beauty is what drives everything we do.

BluNori design is deeply influenced by Japanese arts, culture, and lifestyle. We festure several permanent Japanese-inspired collections: Nippon, Anime Utopia, Mochi, and Naruto. Beyond this, we draw inspirations from a wide range of sources: visually striking pop art, geometric beings, random animated objects, and quirky things make us smile. 

We infuse Japanese minimalism and understated elegance into our base garments, which act as a canvas for our bold prints.

BluNori was founded by former executives and designers from luxury fashion brands. Our product developers and designers are based in the United States, Japan, and Switzerland. In addition to their fashion expertise, they share a deep connection with the swimming world and other aquatic sports, including rowing, sailing, diving, kayaking, and surfing.

Water adventures are an integral part of our daily lives and the DNA of our brand. We understand what works best when you’re in contact with water, and we design our products with your needs in mind.

BluNori products are made on-demand, meaning every piece is crafted only after a customer places an order. We embrace a slow manufacturing approach, carefully planning our supply chain with sustainability in mind. This includes implementing a zero-waste policy, using organic and recycled materials whenever possible, and prioritizing quality to ensure each product lasts for years to come.

Our components and raw materials are sourced from Spain, Germany, Lithuania, Colombia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia, and China.
The manufacturing process, including dyeing and printing, takes place in the United States and Mexico.
